Burton and Leicester Grasstrack Association

WELCOME to Burton and Leicester Grass Track Association.

If you have reached this page, you have probably clicked on a link from the excellent GRASSTRACK GB site that opened for business on the 26th April 2012.

GSP or Scott Pritchard to his mates set up an alternative to GRASSTRACK NET for all things sliding.

The results can be seen already by the likes on his facebook page, but enough about him. Have a look through the revamped Burton and Leicester site. Click on the top left hand button and follow the trail. "From Tallington to Donington" will be the title of my next book!

If there is anything you think needs adding to this site, please use the contact page and put website in the subject line and a brief explanation of what you would like to see.

Thanks for reading. - Websmith

Following the death of Roy Wrathall, Chairman of Burton & District Sporting Motorcycle Club in April 2004, it was decided to organise a memorial charity grasstrack event to recognise his dedication to the sport. Leicester Grasstrack Club kindly offered to host this event at their track at Tallington, Stamford in Sept of that year.

After this event, it was decided that Burton & District, and Leicester Grasstrack Club would join forces to provide a combination of training and racing events.

Since 2005, the Burton and Leicester Grasstrack Association has organised events each year incorporating the East Midland Centre Championships for 250cc, 350cc, 500cc solos, plus 1000cc right hand sidecars & 500cc sidecars. The association has also hosted the ACU British Youth Championship and the ACU British Under 21 Championship on two occasions. In 2008, the Association took a 12 month break but now returns stronger to host the inaugural (in the UK) FIM 125cc Youth Gold Trophy Grasstrack and 250cc Youth Gold Trophy Longtrack Championships at Tallington situated between Stamford and Market Deeping on the 24th and 25th July 2010.

In 2011 there was another sabbatical with the organisers concentrating on other events, In France, Holland and Germany. Plans were also being drawn to run a permanent event at Mallory Park in Leicestershire but outside funding was pulled at the final hour.

A seed had been sown and as previously reported a chance meeting over a drink gave the Burton and Leicester Grasstrack Association new hope and the possibility of a new venue.

April 2012.
The planning of our new events are well underway, this time at the famous Donington Park circuit also in Leicestershire. Using the old website with alterations we plan to keep you up to date on a daily or even hourly basis.
